Tomball's original meadery isn't just a place to grab a drink — it's a hive-to-glass story more than a decade in the making.
Kelly and Matthew Brantley have been beekeepers for over ten years through their family honey business, BZ Honey — and that deep respect for the bees and their honey is what eventually led them to open Thirsty Bee Meadery in January of 2020. The idea was simple and beautiful: they already had some of the finest local wildflower honey around, so why not ferment it into something extraordinary?
All meads are crafted in their Commerce Street winery and served just ten feet away in their cozy tasting room at 212 W. Main Street — making Thirsty Bee one of the most genuinely from-scratch operations you'll find anywhere. Classic Meads range from dry to sweet with an ABV of 10–15%, while Session Meads offer a lighter, more refreshing 7–8% option perfect for a hot Texas day. Whether you like your mead bubbly or still, fruity or crisp, there's a pour here with your name on it.
The tasting room itself reflects the craft — flight boards made from beehive boxes, a honeycomb shelving unit, and a warm Old Town Tomball atmosphere that makes you want to linger. And if you fall in love with a bottle (you will), you can grab honey, growlers, and bottles to take home — or join the Swarm Club for a quarterly delivery straight to your door.
This is what it looks like when passion, patience, and a whole lot of bees come together in the best possible way.
