Some restaurants serve good food. Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue serves an experience — and there's truly nothing else like it in Texas.
Founded in 2015 by Scott Moore, his brother Greg, and partner Michelle Holland. Tejas started as something unexpected: a bean-to-bar chocolate company with roots at the Tomball Farmer's Market. Scott Moore was the first bean-to-bar chocolate maker in the entire state of Texas — and what began as a hobby quickly became something the whole community couldn't get enough of. Then came the barbecue. As Scott likes to say, they sell brisket to support their chocolate habit.
Housed in one of the oldest buildings in Tomball at 200 N. Elm Street in Old Town, Tejas became a destination almost immediately. Using 100% all-natural USDA Prime grade briskets, post oak wood, and offset stick burners fired by real wood logs, every plate that comes out of that kitchen is the result of serious craft and serious patience. The menu features brisket, pork shoulder, pork ribs, pork belly, turkey, chicken, and house-ground sausages — alongside heirloom side dish recipes passed down and perfected over time.
The accolades speak for themselves. Tejas has earned recognition from the 2024 Michelin Bib Gourmand, Texas Monthly's Top 50, the Houston Chronicle Top 100, and multiple HOUBBQ Festival honors — all while staying rooted right here in Tomball.
This is what happens when craft meets community, and a chocolate maker picks up a pair of tongs.
